Approach

Reframing a sustainable shopping experience required various concept phases, in-depth research, different user experience solutions, and many scribbled wireframes. A minimalistic approach was made definite early in the design process, this allows the brands featured to speak for themselves.

straightforward design was decided to present the user with good usability - for example you can easily switch between the Explore page, My DNA, and the Feed allowing the user to comfortably switch between browsing methods.

User Flow

A sign-up box will appear when the user interacts outside the explore page.

App opens on the explore page - the user can interact with the explore page before being asked to sign up. This will help them decide whether the app will help them reach their goal or not.

There is an option to continue as a guest. However, this will only allow the user to interact on the explore page.

The option to sign up with Google or Facebook will be given to reduce the user journey and help prevent negative feelings of frustration.

Alongside the Thread app a digital environment needed to be built to increase engagement and help more customers discover the platform. The website includes 'Thread Talk' to give customers advice and tips on becoming more sustainable.

People, Planet, Animals

Breaking up the rating into people, planet, and animals enables users to easily understand the information being presented to them. Using visuals creates clear presentation making it faster to take in making a short user journey. It also allows the user to compare the brands in each topic easily.

'PLANET' represents any harm done to the planet along the supply chain. This involves C02 emissions released, water and fabric wastage, toxic chemicals used, new recourses used. Even thought E.L.V Denim is a zero-waste brands C02 emissions are released throughout the supply chain - this effects their rating.

'PEOPLE' stands for the health, well being, and wages paid to anyone involved in the process of making and selling the garment. Looking after employees should be a focus of all brands.

'ANIMALS' represent any harm done to animals along the supply chain process. E.L.V use unwanted leather scraps for the patch on the back of their jeans - this doesn't effect the score drastically as the fabric would otherwise end up in landfill.

My USP

This is the screen that appears after something is purchased through the app. The use of their name personalises the user experience which builds more trust.

Using the term 'positive impact' encourages the user to feel good about their purchase, this feeling at the end of their journey will increase the possibility of returning to the app.

This could be the new Starva but for sustainable shopping  - it didn't happen unless the app was used to track it.

When something is purchased through the app the users 'positive impact' is tracked. This gamifys the shopping experience and will encourage the user keep building their score.

This is the positive impact accessed through their profile - they can view this in 'Actual' or 'Equivalences' depending on how the information best makes sense to them.
